Just like our big brothers and sisters in the publishing industry, the editorial crew responsible for Shure Notes spends a fair amount of time planning the editorial calendar for the year, and then revising it periodically to take advantage of breaking news or special opportunities.  Since the earliest days of its existence, our charter has been clear: to provide a broad range of audio fundamentals with an emphasis on tips and tricks that anyone who performs and records can use and apply.

We constantly ask ourselves: How are we doing?  We evaluate every issue’s performance by looking at circulation figures, open rates and article metrics.  But to make sure that we stay focused, we survey our subscribers every year.

This year’s responses were overwhelming and overwhelmingly positive.  Better still, you gave us editorial recommendations that you’ll see in future issues.

Here’s how we rate with you:

93% look forward to receiving Shure Notes
83% think the technical level of the articles is about right
45% pass Shure Notes on to associates

Here’s who you are:
95% are male
52% are 25-49
70% are musicians
26.3% are live sound engineers

Top three editorial topic requests:
Microphones – Basics, Applications and Techniques
Monitoring
Drum Miking

Readers also provided suggestions – literally hundreds of them. In the months ahead – in fact, right in this Drum Miking issue – you’ll be seeing those suggestions come to life, along with some new features and a fresh new look.

Remember, too, that you can access dozens of past issues of Shure Notes by visiting our Archive page.  There you’ll find useful information on a wide spectrum of pro audio topics, along with engineer tips, artist profiles and lots more.

Thanks for reading.  Thanks for responding.
And thanks for your continued support.
