Every year, we ask Shure Notes readers to give us their thoughts, opinions and suggestions along with bouquets or brickbats, if they are so inclined. The responses we receive provide not only a report card of how well we are serving the needs of our readers, but a beacon in shining a light on which new (or old) topics are of the most value.
Rather than patting ourselves on the back for the overwhelmingly positive comments we received (thanks very much for them, by the way), we thought we’d share some information that we gathered for the first time. It’s about you, our readers, and who you are.
| 74.4% of you are musicians | #1 Microphone placement, techniques, tips and tricks |
| 37% do live sound | #2 Drum miking |
| 16.2% are employed full time in the music industry | #3 In-ear personal monitors |
| 58.7% are between 25-49 years or age |
|
What comments did you have for us? Literally thousands, but here are just a few examples:
"Include online samples of different mics and/or placement. Reference sources could be a human voice, guitar, snare...whatever."
"I would like a place to ask questions."
"You must be more with it and speak the language of us musicians."
"Just keep on 'doin' that voodoo that you do' because its all good.”
Thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s Reader Survey. Your comments are appreciated and help to improve our editorial.
