Stereo Miking Techniques
If you’re recording an ensemble or looking to capture the natural sound of a live performance, you’ll want to understand the basics of stereo miking. In this issue, we’ll take you behind the scenes and into Shure’s state-of-the-art Performance Listening Center. There, Shure engineer Dean Giavaras laid the foundation, demonstrated the techniques and armed us with audio clips to share with you.

We also talked to Rob Jaczko, Chairman of Berklee College of Music’s Music Production and Engineering Department, about this year’s winning entry in the Fantastic Scholastic Recording Competition and what he, his team and you can learn from it.
