Survey Says:
The 2007
Shure Notes®
Reader Survey

Just like our big brothers and sisters in the publishing industry, the editorial crew responsible for Shure Notes spends a fair amount of time planning the editorial calendar for the year, and then revising it periodically to take advantage of breaking news or special opportunities. Since the earliest days of its existence, our charter has been clear: to provide a broad range of audio fundamentals with an emphasis on tips and tricks that any one who performs and records can use and apply.

We constantly ask ourselves: How are we doing? We evaluate every issue’s performance by looking at circulation figures, open rates and article metrics. But to make sure that we stay focused, we also survey subscribers like you every year.

This year’s responses were overwhelming and overwhelmingly positive. Better still, you gave us editorial recommendations that you’ll see in future issues.

Here’s how we rate with you:
97% find Shure Notes content useful
78% think the articles are just about the right length
33% pass Shure Notes on to associates

Here are the top three editorial topic requests:
Microphones – Basics, Applications and Techniques
Latest Technologies and New Products
Studio Recording

In the months ahead – in fact, right in this issue – you’ll be seeing these suggestions come to life. For those of you who were hoping for a YouTube video version and more global coverage, we’re sorry that we won’t be able to deliver. Yet.

Remember, too, that you can access literally dozens of past issues of Shure Notes by visiting our Archive page. There you’ll find useful information on a wide spectrum of pro audio topics, along with engineer tips, artist profiles and lots more.

Thanks for reading. Thanks for responding. And thanks for your continued support.
