Shure Notes House of Worship Reader Survey

Since the earliest days of its existence, our charter has been clear: to provide a broad range of audio fundamentals with an emphasis on tips and tricks that those of you who work in church audio can use and apply.

We ask ourselves: How are we doing?  We evaluate every issue’s performance by looking at circulation figures, open rates and article metrics.  But to make sure that we stay focused, we reach out to our subscribers every year.

We were grateful (and relieved) that this year’s responses remained positive and that you continue to see Shure Notes as a helpful tool in your vocation or avocation.   Better yet, you gave us editorial recommendations that you’ll see in this and future issues.

You and the Shure Notes Houses of Worship community:

94.6% male

20.7% are sound contractors or consultants
56.7% are guitar or bass players
70.0% are musicians
26.3% are live sound engineers

68.5% volunteer at church
11.8% are full time employees in their church
55.2% are involved in churches with congregations of 500 or less

24.6% have subscribed for two years or more
56.6% pass Shure Notes on to associates (hey, thanks!)

….and 92.4% think Shure Notes is as good or better than other online newsletters (thanks again!)

Shure’s microphone heritage and expertise comes through loud and clear with you when we asked for article suggestions.

Top three editorial topic requests:
1. Microphone Selection, Placement, Tips and Tricks  (by a huge margin)
2. Mixing Techniques
3. Wireless Microphone Tips

Readers also provided suggestions – literally hundreds of them. In the months ahead – in fact, right in this Acoustic Miking issue – you’ll be seeing those suggestions come to life, along with some new features and a fresh new look.

Remember, too, that you can access dozens of past issues of Shure Notes by visiting our Archive page.  There you’ll find useful information on a wide spectrum of pro audio topics, along with engineer tips, artist profiles and lots more.

Thanks for reading.  Thanks for responding.  And thanks for your continued support.
